Apple fixes Group FaceTime bug with iOS 12.1.4 and macOS 10.14.3 supplemental update

Just 10 days after a flaw in the Group FaceTime feature was discovered that allowed a caller to listen in on a user without their connect, Apple has issued iOS and macOS updates to correct the security flaw.

Apple has released an update to iOS bringing it up to 12.1.4, and a supplemental update to macOS Mojave with both updates re-enabling Group FaceTime by fixing a security hole that potentially allowed others to listen in to private conversations without the user's permission. 

Apple had previously disabled Group FaceTime once they were made aware of the issue but that was just a band-aid. This is a "permanent" fix but only for those who update. Group FaceTime will still be disabled server side for any device not running the latest macOS and iOS Versions. 

 

10 days is a little longer than I was hoping it would take them to fix this issue, but it isn't like Apple pseudo patched the exploit before an official user end fix was made available. So taking that into account, this was overall handled very well by Apple.

Yes, I have 9 monitors.

My main PC (Hybrid Windows 10/Arch Linux):

OS: Arch Linux w/ XFCE DE (VFIO-Patched Kernel) as host OS, windows 10 as guest

Details: 12GB ram, GTX 1080, USB card passed through to windows 10 VM. VM's OS drive is the SATA SSD. Rest of resources are for Plex, Duplicati, Spaghettidetective, Nextcloud, and game servers.

I just updated my MacBook myself. It's very likely that there are other fixes in the OS that weren't reported for the sake of brevity.

probably. mine is almost done updating (sata ssd ya know) so.. i don't know what else they could have fixed though...
