I would like to make a cluster computer with raspberry pi's, ive watched a few videos but i really dont understand it, also theyre for a no gui version, but id like to use it as a sort of cool looking desktop(alongside my main pc)

orrrrr, use it to give my current pc a bit of a rendering boost. (not entirely sure if thats possible)

you.....

might want to learn what clustering is before attempting to build a cluster. I can tell you one thing to save you time , a cluster of pi's isn't going to "boost" your desktop pc

i know what cluster computing is, and i didnt really think it could "boost" my pc, but i was being hopeful

What do you want to cluster? Storage? Compute?

There are a lot of ways to cluster,  and really depends on use, no one size fits all solution here.

If I had time to kill and lots of pie :) then I might try and see if its possible to setup some type of hypervisor on a couple, and see if you can do a live migration of guests between them. That would be good stuff to know even if the hardware is sub-par.

Maybe some load balanced web servers?
