How to store internet traffic?

I do some research for my university project (very important thing) and my idea is to store all traffic that PC can get into HDD (well just every storage that we can have). How even can we analyze all the data that comes to our PCs, then store it?

For some cases you can just use Wireshark and save the file. You can filter stuff too..

Will it capture and save all the data? Like picture that I will explore in browser or if I will download some TXT document? 

I tried to read and see what Wireshark can do... but I guess i do not understand some things, yet)
