Hey guys, I'm gonna upgrade my gpu. But I can't decide on whether to get sli gtx 760s or 1 gtx 780. Both will cost the same price. With sli, I'd be able to get performance on par or better than a titan. But should I invest in a 780 instead for 4k gaming in the future? I'm thinking maybe it's be some time till 4k moniters will be affordable and by then i'd upgrade my gpu again. But now with dell coming up with a $699 moniter. I'm not too sure. So what do you guys think?

1GTX 780

Never SLI two low end cards.

Plus you can pop another 780 in there in the future for much better performance than sticking a 3rd 760 in there.

I wouldn't jump onto 4K until there's more appropriate hardware on the graphics card side to play is smoothly.

I'd suggest getting a single 780 instead.

i'd either get a 1440p monitor or hold off until 4k is more common because the 4k monitors atm are either not that great or super expensive and the 780's 3gb vram could become a bottleneck at 4k.

Neither. Two R9-290's would kill both of them, and for the price of a titan. Just do that.

Wait for next gen gpus, these are not optimized for 4K as much as the next generation will be. Predictions say 60Hz 4K monitors (reasonable sizes) will be 600$ by the end of 2014. I would personally bet on AMD because 4K optimization started from this generation while current NVIDIA gpus don't seem that suitable.

Why do i always get blue screens? Why not a red one for a change?

you should get a 290 because it has 4gb ram.

off topic: I think that a 290x would berform better in 4k than a 780ti just because it has 1gb of ram more

If you were to get a GPU for 4k then so sli 780's or 780ti's if you want ultra

Also I would look at the R9290 none referance editions

or the referance if you plan to watercools or use the NXZT brace

How ever I would maby wait for a while maby to around the release of x99

like everyone said

wait

4k monitors are still expensive

wait for DP 1.3  or HDMI 2.0 for good 4k experience

by that time there will be new GPU cards out

personally ill just ditch 4k rather have Oculus rift

They say 4GB of GDDR5 memory is the sweetspot, here´s a video with performance differences, also asus have some good 4K panels out and will release a few more what I know.

I personally would go with one Asus ROG 760 Mars wich has two 760 GPU:s inside and 4GB of RAM wich is the sweetspot in 4K gaming, you can later on if you want add another one and technically have 4-way SLI . Also I would totaly go with 4K if you can afford it, it looks so awesome

Forgot the 512bit memory bus? it destroys the 780

Forget about 4K now, it's still in diapers. Hardware is inappropriate and the monitors aren't good or affordable. Give it a year or so and it might be real.

The 760 ROG MARS is a dual-GPU card. So the 4GB is really 2x2GB. So then you won't be anywhere near the 4GB sweetspot for 4k. And the 512 bit (MARS) is also 2 x 256bit. It's all just marketing magic, unfortunately.

lol? "Never SLI two low end cards". Why do you say SLI the 780 later on then when it needs the extra preformance? By then the card will be lower end than now so I dont see that logic.

Not really. The 680 is still a nice card and the 580 still is very good. If he is upgrading next generation it will still make sense to buy another 780 at a reduced price (due to maxwell) and it is still do able the generation after that.

I overclocked my 670 to preform like a 680. so your telling me I should go SLI?

2 760 will beat a 780 by a decent amount, I'd go with the 2 760s.
