Dell S2716DG

Whats with the price!?

When I was considering a 1440p g-sync option it was a strong contender (warranty and price point)

Anyway I got a different one.

Now Nvidia have dropped the free sync bomb I was expecting the prices of g-sync monitors to drop. Well I still have a folder of link from when I was shopping and I saw the price has actually gone up!

5%

For a 2 an half (maybe more) year old model!

Is that the market or Nvidia?

It's far more likely that it's the retailer.

The market. A big reason for the price difference between GSync and others is that GSync requires a module from nvidia. This can cost a lot I've heard. It's basically a graphics card and it uses an fancy FPGA and 3GB of DDR4.

Once the monitor is in the retailer's hands, they control the price. NVIDIA has nothing to do with it and they've already gotten the money from the manufacturer for whatever they wanted.

There's also no real reason for G-Sync monitors to drop in price just because NVIDIA started supporting FreeSync. NVIDIA isn't supporting all FreeSync monitors.
