Pretty sure you can't disable just the keyboard LED though, they're probably the same.

Plus, it's still easily readable

you're right about the LEDs that light up the underglow and the keys are the same thing, tough OP wants to just have illuminated keys. so just turning off the LEDs isn;t exactly a option.

imo electrical tape would be the quickest, and cheapest way to do this.

So never having tried this myself my first guess would be you could pull the keys off and maybe paint / marker around the key area with something.  Another idea would be, depending on how roomy it is under the key, to cut out some sort of black poster board or construction paper to fit over the glowing areas.  Would be a pain but you could cut out slots for the key stems and just fit them in pieces over the light source.  Would just want to be careful to not restrict too much of the light because that light source seems to be what emits light through the key stems as well.
