I am running a de-lidded, liquid metaled i7-7700k, the IHS has been replaced with a copper plate. Being cooled by a Noctua NH-D14

My idle temperatures are a minimum of 45c, and in games such as Rainbow Six: Siege, my temperatures can reach 75c or higher. This is regardless of what clock speeds and voltages I run the CPU at.

I have re-mounted the CPU, tried different thermal pastes (NT-H1 and Arctic Silver), I am yet to try a different cooler however.

What cooler are you using?

5GHz is a pretty high OC for 7700K. What voltage?

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

Are you trying to mean that even if you run a lower clock speed and undervolt your cpu, there's no temp delta?

And you haven't mentioned what kind of vcore voltage you're feeding your 7700k and what clock you're running. You should check what kind of current the VRMs are pulling and then multiply it by your vcore voltage, you will get the idea whether it's outputting high enough power which makes sense to your thermals.

console.log("way to pro");

Hmm maybe the whole delidding projekt does not yielt the expected result. To be more blunt - I think you made it worse by doing that. Idle is way too high - everything should be about 10-20c lower.

On the other hand with an overclock like that - you should definitely get some form of liquid cooling. My 6700k runs at 4.6ghz with temps around 25c at idle and 60-65c under load. Thats with a Corsair H110i AIO cooler.

How old is the cooler and often do you clean it? Dust can have a significant impact that alot of people seem to forget about, especially with air coolers.
