Is it possible to mount 12 fans inside the O11D

I made an extremely ugly drawing on how I want to mount the fans, but I have o idea if this will work at all.

The drawing:

1-3 = Corsair LL120 pushing air

3-6 = NZXT fans pulling the air

Red Box = NZXT radiator

It will probably work, you can mount a push/pull radiator at the side but you should choose carefully because of dimensions.
Found that you can even mount a 360mm x 50mm radiator on the second chamber of the side(so some fans will fit). I also ordered and waiting for the case. What i want to see is if you can mount 2x 80mm fans at the back of the case.

So I decided to upgrade the looks of my PC quite a bit, I am happy with the performance (RTX 2080 and 8700k), but I dont really like the case I currently have (Masterbox Pro 5) and the my CPU cooler (Noctua NH-D15), although the cooling is very good it just looks ugly when all my other parts are Aura Synced. So I decided to upgrade to a Lian Li O11D with an NZXT Kraken X72. All fans will be replaced by 9x corsair LL120 and will be controlled with the Commander Pro. Now for my Question: Can you mount a push/pull radiator config on the right side of the case? That would be 3 LL120 pulling air from the inside of the case and the 3 NZXT fans that come with the x72 pulling through tha rad on the other side. I made an extremely ugly drawing on how I want to mount the fans, but I have o idea if this will work at all. Since the O11D in not in stock in germany anywhere I will have to wait half quite a bit until I can test it myself.

The drawing:

1-3 = Corsair LL120 pushing air

3-6 = NZXT fans pulling the air

Red Box = NZXT radiator

I am pretty sure if this works at all it will be extremely tight and have minimum cooling benefits but I want to try it never the less.

I'm pretty sure you marked the same 3 fans but from different angle here.

The O11 supports 3 fans from the side, 3 from top, 3 from bottom for a total of 9 fans.

EDIT: oh, nvm I see what the drawing is about. Disregard that post then. I think that if you do push/pull then double fan + radiator might interfere with one of the fans mounted on the bottom.

At this point you might as well remove that one fan if it bothers you, the dominishing returns from 9 fans to 10-11 will hit hard.

Ignore the installed fans in the picture. The color of the fan numbers are the same, but the circles are not, that is how I tried to show that those are different fans. I meant that the fans 1-3 (LL120) will push the air through the rad and on the other side of the rad there will be fans 4-6 (NZXT) that pull it through the rad since there seems to be a big enough gap behind the mounting for the radiator and the door of the case.

Yeah yeah, I already edited my initial response.

Take a look at the exploded view of the case:

O11D-s10-00.jpg

The problem might not be the distance to the window, it's whether it will interfere with bottom fan or not.

Ah ok didn't see the edit.

I'll take that as a maybe it works with 12, but probably "only" 11. I'll try it as soon as it arrives, which should be sometime to the end of February.

Thank you for the reply.

Kind of late but here is a follow up.

Everything worked out, with a bit of some jerryrigging. I had to remove the rubber from the NZXT fans so that I can mount them to the backside of the rad, since I had to use the long screws that came with the x72 for the LL120s in front. Sadly I fucked up on one fan so a bit of plastic was ripped off but it works great. Here are the pictures and a video of my build.

Nice, the case also came to me as well but haven't build yet in it cause waiting for the ryzen 3850 :P and a x570 mobo. One thing i have figured out, <except that it's amazing and the quality is incomparable with my old and much pricier at the time cm haf 932> is that you can't mount one or two 80mm fans in the back unless you mount them with double-sided tape which i will probably do.
Anyway thanks for sharing, hope we helping others that way.

What about noise levels with all the fans? I mean i am not asking for the exact dBs but is it ok or is it too loud under pressure? I suppose you have it on your desk near your seat.

It took some time to get the fan curve right, but as it is right now, it is way quieter than my old Masterbox Pro 5 with the standard Masterfans. With headphones on I hear nothing while gaming because of my quite insane fan curve: Almost all fans, besides the AIO ones have different RPMs. The bottom right intake one and the AIOs are at 1200, the bottom left and middle is 1000 and the top ones from left to right are 1000, 800, 600 while below 75. As long as it doesnt get hotter than that you will only hear the fans when no audio is playing. Its gotten to the point that I can notice the coil whine of my Strix RTX 2080 now, which I had not before (although it can also be that I bent the Power Cables a bit too much while cable managing so that they took a hit). In terms of DB Id guess that it probably isnt that much lower than my old Case with way less fans, but the lower hum of it now is certainly more easy to ignore than the higher pitch of the Coolermaster case and fans.

Hi Settlerteo,

I am curious if the 2x 80mm fans in the rear are possible.

I also think about using 1-2x 80mm fans in the rear (exhaust).

How did you mount them?

And do they improve your cooling?

I will build the Lian Li O11 Dynamic with 1 Arctic Freezer II 360 AiO and 6x 120mm Arctic fans.

Not yet sure about the configuration. I plan to test different sensible configurations and compare the temperatures under load.
