GTX970 fan only spins with no pcie power

I have a EVGA GTX 970sc and it has an odd quirk. I noticed the other week only 1 gpu fan spins at all times. I contacted evga support and they informed me that this is not part of the gpu controlling the fans itself, so I found some replacements online and just finished replacing them.

I noticed one fan still failed to spin, so I tried reseating it and they both span. That's when I noticed that this time I forgot to plug in the 2x6pin power, I fixed this and only 1 span again.

 

This is not something I have ever come across before, could anybody help?

Try reseating it again if that worked before. Seems kinda odd.

 

You could also try using a program such as SpeedFan and mess with some of the settings.

maybe it has something to do with the cable? 

if you have the spare ones that came with your psu you can try with changing the cable and see what that does

don't forget to remove your machine from the electric net if your fuddling with cables

I tried speed fan and couldn't fix anything. I tried flashing the bios and nothing.

@Sperz35 What MOBO are you using?

 

 

Honestly, it sounds like a card problem. If the card is still under warranty I would try to just send it back and get a replacement.
