Multi- Video Input Recorder Needed

Eloooo

Right straight to it, I need to record 3 separate camera inputs and 1 Display capture simultaneously.

Originally I thought I would just run multiple (4) instances of OBS, I am able to set up all 4 POVs in OBS but I am unable to record more than 2 of those instances at once, receiving the below error when I attempt to start the 3rd recording.

I have no particular attachment to OBS so If I should be using something else, or if anyone has any Ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

cant you just do it though one instance of OBS? or do you need them to be separate recordings?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

One simple option would be to create a 4K output in OBS and put all your 4 inputs in 1080p squares and put all four on the 4K "canvas" and encode the 4K output to something near lossless.

When done, you can crop out whatever you want in your video editor.

You should be able to run 4 instances of OBS, as long as they all use separate encoders. For example, have 4 copies of OBS in four separate folders, and configure each OBS to use software x264 encoder. Leave only one to use the hardware encoder on your video card - depending on the card, it may be possible to encode 2 streams at same time.

If OBS still causes issues, there's other more basic software programs, for example Virtualdub is very good at capturing data from cameras, and you can run multiple copies as long as you use a codec that's light on cpu - magicyuv would work great for example.

NVENC on consumer hardware is limited to 2 simultaneous encodes, that's why you get the error. You need a Quadro if you want more than 2.
