Building my first PC need to know if what I got is good for gaming and video editing. I am paying for the graphics card and my family is getting the rest. I plan on doing some pretty heavy gaming and editing/ streaming so I want something that can keep up. Does what I have can get the job done or is their a cheaper alternative.

Expensive parts matched with super budget parts, theres a bit of a balance issue around that

Considering your workload, you might want something more like this:

IIRC it was fixed for the x470 boards from the x370, but I could be wrong

tbh, I've heard from a lot of people here that they're still bad but I didn't really look into it, I took the word of the people. I know ears_ears has an AMD motherboard chart but he uses it to bully people so I don't want to @ him.

So what motherboard do you recommend?

Exactly what mxk said, this cooler is one of the best and is perfect for overclocking on a hot chip like the 8700k.

If you don't plan on OC'ing then get an arctic esports 33. They're about 30$ and perform fairly well

slottr recommended a ryzen build. For a ryzen build that you're overclocking, an ASRock Taichi (or taichi ultimate) are the best overclocking motherboards. If you want to do light overclocking, an Asus Strix X470-F is fine.

It depends on how hard you want to overclock and what you're planning to do with the 8700k.

Do you plan on overclocking? If so, I'd definitely go with the Dark Rock Pro 4 or Noctua D15. Both of those are very good air coolers.

If not, like I said, the Arctic esports will keep it cool just fine, just wouldnt plan on overclocking with it too hard.
