CPU might need an upgrade

Narley

Hey all, I need some help with my current pc build and hope I could find some help here. I recently upgraded my GPU and games run a lot better but I got some issues with some games that ask a lot of my CPU. It asks 100% all of the time and my whole computer lags quite a bit and FPS jutters very frequent.

Here is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Narley/saved/PnVcYJ

Yeah you have a bottleneck because of your cpu. How much are you considering allocating to that type of upgrade?

You can't ask much from a non-hyper threaded 4th gen i5, must serve as a decent gaming cpu, but not good by any means, just lower the settings that stresses cpu the most and you'll be fine. (Also with some very demanding games like AC Oddysey or similar just forget about playing them without lag or jutter)

Well I like to upgrade my pc to be lasting for a few years and upgrade when needed so I can spend where needed. Would 300 euro (or in that range) be considered little?

Get a ryzen, cheap and plenty of power.  Might want to wait till ryzen 3000 comes out in a few months though.

Would any fit well on my motherboard? Kinda confused on what CPU would fit on it

If you plan to keep the motherboard you should: upgrade to 16GB and buy a 4th gen I7. Like a 4770 or a 4770k, if you plan to go for the overclockable version check if your mobo has a good vrm and you have a CPU cooler so you can put the 4770k to 4.5 or so

You have an lga 1150, Intel exclusive, 4th gen CPU's. Buying a new ryzen motherboard + CPU + ram costs more than 300

Might then consider on getting a new motherboard if this one would not last long for upgrades

4790k is still a strong CPU, Games still recommend this to play at high settings high fps. But, if you want to change your motheboard keep in mind that a change in RAM and CPU is required, maybe also the CPU cooler, if you make a decision, be sure to let me know so i can give you some stuff you can check

A i7 like the i7 4770, 4770K, 4790K or the i7 5775C should fit on your board. Even some Xeons for the socket should work.

And adding additional RAM to get to 16GB would be advised.

Oh you are right, but I am thinking of just upgrading my CPU for now. I am right now looking at this one. Would you recommand this one?

That doesnt fit in your mobo ?, look for 4th gen I7 or some "5th gen " . these CPU's are not sold brand new, only second hand. I would recommend you 4770/4770k or 4790/4790k.

Oh did not notice my motherboard being quite outdated, then surely an upgrade to the Motherboard could be a good investment you recon?

It would be a good investment, specially if you go with Ryzen, because AMD keeps the Socket. that makes everything more futureproof, but all that changes cost way more than 300 (Ryzen CPU + new cooler + new ram + new motherboard) If you want this option, give me a budget I would try to build something
