Just to elaborate a bit - you probably don't want to upgrade to the newer version because LTS releases are more stable, but it won't wipe your data if you do (at least if all goes well).

I got update to non LTS version of Ubuntu. I am using LTS version. Should I update it ? Will it wipe my data ?
