Dell XPS 15 9570 for 2200$ Worth it?

First post, but I have enjoyed reading previous posts of people guiding others when getting a new laptop. I hope you can guide me too.

I'm considering getting a new laptop since my 3 year old Toshiba Satellite LB50-B-2E7 is disintegrating and now only have a maximum of 30 minutes battery life. I travel a lot which is why I'm looking for a laptop.

My intention is to go all in and get a high end laptop that can last the next 3 years with the power to handle a little of everything from virtualization to a little video editing. It's meant for professional use, but I wouldn't mind it if it can handle a few games.

After having this Toshiba, build quality have become a priority, since it feels like it's going to break when you pick it up with one hand and the keyboard have left permanent scratches on the screen.

I can't stop looking at the XPS 15 9570 but I've heard that it overheats:

  • i9-8950HK-processor
  • 16 GB 2 x 8 GB DDR4-2666 MHz
  • M.2 512 GB 2280 PCIe solid state-drev
  • GTX 1050TI, 4 GB

Does anyone think it's worth it to buy a laptop at that price?
Are there any other alternatives?

Any feedback is much appreciated

The XPS 15 is very nice and thin, though.. in my opinion other brands can give you a better value for your money.

That is true and I've been looking at the Asus ZenBook 15 UX533FD and Lenovo Legion Y530.

Do you have a specific brand that you prefer?

Some popular sites are:

Elgiganten.dk

Komplett.dk

Computersalg.dk

dustinhome.dk

proshop.dk

In my country it would be around 14.000 - 16.000 Dkr.

Dell Precision 7530

Lenovo Thinkpad P1 - mediocre cooling (can be fixed with some tweaks)

Asus UX580GE - mediocre cooling (especially GPU)

MSI P65 8RD/8RE (bad cooling) - OKish build quality

Gaming orientated:

AW m15 with 90Wh battery (no HDD), 16GB RAM, 144Hz IPS - be aware of potential CPU overheating issue

Asus GL504GM - need to turn off RGB

HP Omen 15-dc0011no, dc0013no - not sure Optimus is enabled or not

HP Omen 15-dc0803no

Might want to wait for RTX laptops
