First build ever

joewangatan

Long time reader, first time poster. Finally built my first PC and in scrapyard style no less.

Spec:

Lenovo M72e Thinkcentre with an i5-3470 3.2 ghz

Lenovo motherboard

16 gb ddr3 corsair vengeance RAM 1600 mhz

RX 580 8gb GPU

500 gb Samsung EVO 860 SSD

EVGA 650w PSU

Planning for a 2-4 tb HDD to replace optical drive at some point since the graphics card takes up the other hard drive bay

Cable management is a work in process, this case is really crammed in there.

Wow, nice case...  The specs are not all that great sorry to say.  THe i5 3470 will bottleneck that 580 GPU soo bad.. You will get horrible frame rates my friend.  That CPU is a joke to be honest with you if you want to game with it.  Unless you don't mind 30fps average.. The video card is going to be really pissed off man.  Why don't you grab a used 6700k from ebay for like 100 bucks.  Plus your CPU doesn't have the K which means you cant overclock that measily 3.2Ghz … Do not bother with a 580 unless you get a real CPU.

Asus Sabertooth x79 / 4930k @ 4500 @ 1.408v / Gigabyte WF 2080 RTX / Corsair VG 64GB @ 1866 & AX1600i & H115i Pro @ 2x Noctua NF-A14 / Carbide 330r Blackout

Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface / KRK Rokits 10" / Sennheiser HD 650 / Logitech G Pro Wireless Mouse & G915 Linear & G935 & C920 / SL 88 Grand / Cakewalk / NF-A14 Int P12 Ex
AOC 40" 4k Curved / LG 55" OLED C9 120hz / LaCie Porsche Design 2TB & 500GB / Samsung 950 Pro 500GB / 850 Pro 500GB / Crucial m4 500GB / Asus M.2 Card

This spec is not horrible and is very capable, but if you were to upgrade, I would recommend the 3700k. Turtle rig is right that it will bottleneck but the idea that you can get a 6700k on eBay might run at least 160, LEAST. They are still new and not that cheap. You would also need a new motherboard as it is a different socket. But this is still very capable. and being honest his doesn't clock much better.

Home Base : Ryzen 5 2400G - ASROCK HDV R4.0 B450M -  Corsair Vengance Pro RGB 2x8GB @3200Mhz - Sapphire Pulse RX 5700XT - WB Black (2018) 500GB NVME SSD - 250GB WD (P.O.S.) HDD - 250GB LITEONIT SSD - Cougar MX330 ATX Tower - EVGA SuperNOVA 750 GQ 750W Gold- Razer Deathaddder Elite - Corsair K55 RGB Keyboard

The CPU isn't a joke if you play csgo at ultra low settings, like I do. I'm pretty sure my a8-6600k is still worse than OP's 3470.

Yep, I get it. The plan is to upgrade the CPU at some point once I get some more funds for this. The original plan was to do a full build with a Ryzen 5 2600 but funds got tight so ended up settling for this while I save up. This whole rig cost about $400 and it's serviceable for now.

Also, even if I had a K CPU, it's the stock Lenovo board is for a business Thinkcentre, I can't really get much into the BIOS as it is.

I agree with your 100 percent mxk.  . For CS:GO that 1050Ti would do the job giving 60fps without dips.

I'm hitting 150 ez. The OP has room to upgrade, like you said so no worries really. It's a more than functioning PC, plus I like the case for some reason.

I'd build in it. Perfect sleeper, to be honest. I'm tired of the shitty beige cases that Linus is using.

Yea, I have noticed he's gone on a trend with those cases now that you mention it

First time, it was good, but there wasn't really anything different besides the part selection on "Margaret" and it really killed the hype that I felt from the instagram posts.

Yea, OPs case is a nice change from the "popular" style of cases nowadays

Yes, but he says he only plays Witcher and RTS and I don't think it is in his budget.
