Hey guys,

I was looking at used systems to be able to play minecraft do some basic tasks.

I found a lot of systems on the used market foor under 100$, they include an i5 2400 or 3340 with intel graphics and 4gb ddr3.

are these systems worth it? Would they run minecraft at 100+ fps if I add ram?

or should I look for other used pc’s?

Thank you!

I can spend around 200 but what should I be looking at then? I have very basic hardware knowledge :/

Essentially a 3rd gen i5 desktop for about 100$. 50$ new PSU (corsair cx 450/550 (2017)) and 50$ towards either an hd7950 or hd 7970.

Should I check which mobo the pc has before buying a gt 1030? Or do they fit on every mobo?

They fit on every motherboard with a PCIe x4/x8/x16 slot. AGP slots do not work, though those are from 2002-2007 so you don't really need to worry.

Probably the i5 3340 or i5 2600, plus an SSD and a GT 1030 (or a GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti if you can spend more, none of these need a PCIe power cable). Quite cheap little gaming machine. I would highly recommend getting another 4GB of DDR3, which should be pretty cheap (10-20$)

Ask for 8GB of RAM (it's really going to improve your performance, don't go for the 500GB HDD as HDDs are pretty slow nowadays) and get a used GT 1030 or HD 7700/7790.

Yea ill look into that. If I would get 8gb that means im paying 20$ for 4gb so ill probably just go for 4gb and buy and 8gb stick for like 20 bucks. I mean I dont need something that boots up in 10 seconds, do you think the SSD or HDD would make a big difference in actual gameplay?

SSDs are one of the best things you can buy. In fps, nothing will be improved really. In loading times, it will be drastically improved if your game takes 2-3 minutes to load.

Apps launch instantly, login takes nothing, no noise at all, it's perfect

It's usually around 90-120$, ridiculously low ones on eBay or other used markets are always a scam. GT 1030s run for 30-40 bucks used, get one
