Single or dual channel ram?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

You should still be able to reach 1080p 60Hz without troubles.

I wouldn't be pushing something like 1440p or 1080p 120+Hz with that kind of setup, though. What motherboard and PSU do you have?

the bottleneck's pretty significant, see if you can get another stick of ram of a i7 used.

You'd probably want an i7-7700, as that would alleviate the bottleneck. I don't know if it'll eliminate it entirely, but it'll definitely make it better.

Single

My brother has single channel DDR4 2400 and a 7400 with a 970, sees a bottleneck sometimes. I don't think a quad core does so well with a 2070.

I don't see how this ties into your RAM question at all.

The 7400 is kind of just a weak CPU in general, a 7600K would be better, but a 7700K is way better than either one.

Dual channel helps in CPU bound tasks (obviously a lot more on Ryzen but still, single channel bandwidth is not so high)

I'm curious to see if the problem would persist with a better CPU such as the 7700, though...

7700K is a slightly better CPU, and is unlocked.

The 7700 would pick up performance regardless of the single channel, but getting dual channel and an i7 is recommended.
