I'm getting the Ryzen 7 2700x and RTX 2060 on the x470-F Asus mobo. I want to just make sure I get top notch 1080p with 144hz smoothly. Would it be worth going with G-sync over Freesync? Also will this be a good build and setup?

Yeah this setup is good for 1080p, maybe even a little 1440p but that's your choice. Honestly, with freesync being able to work the nvidia 10 and 20 series cards, just get a freesync monitor so you can save some money.

These are the twelve monitors that nvidia "verified" to work well with their cards that are compatible. You'll probably be fine with getting a monitor that isn't on the list, but if you want the security I guess you can get a monitor from the list.
