Hey,

I really need to upgrade my ram and I have two slots spare, the only problem is that my current kit has increased in price so I'd like to buy something a little cheaper however

I don't know much about computers, if anyone could help I'd really appreciate it!

I currently have these in two slots

Ballistix Sport LT BLS2C16G4D240FSE/BLS2K16G4D240FSE 32GB Kit (16GB x 2) (DDR4, 2400 MT/s, PC4-19200, Dual Rank x8, DIMM, 288-Pin)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ballistix-BLS2C16G4D240FSE-PC4-19200-288-Pin-Memory/dp/B01DPSQQOC/ref=pd_ybh_a_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=ABYHKBAE6N0QDNZT0YHB

and I would like to buy these for the spare two slots so I have 64gb

Corsair CMK32GX4M2A2400C16 Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 2400 MHz
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMK32GX4M2A2400C16-Vengeance-Performance-Desktop/dp/B01CYILUB8/ref=pd_ybh_a_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=ABYHKBAE6N0QDNZT0YHB

would this be compatible or do I have to buy the exact same set of ram I currently have?

Thanks!

I think it'll work fine, but why do you need 64gb of RAM? 32gb is more than enough for most people.

if i could have afforded 64 i would have bought 64 @gamingneeds >>hungry-emoticon>>

If you wanted to make use of the xmp function of the memory you should buy the same package! Or do you have your speed always on 2133 mhz ? ( this can be changed from either the bios menu, or maybe the utility app that came accompanied with the motherboard

explanation about X.M.P.

Oke, that is up to you ofcourse :) …

then you don't need to buy the same memory. I have another machine with 3x2 Panasonic and 3x4 corsair which worked great and currently i'm using 4x8 corsair vengeance lpx memory with zero complaints

Thanks, I work with a lot of really large images in Photoshop and i'm always running out.

Are you sure that your settings are optimized? I work on 30-50mp 16-bit files with up to 50 layers when I composite, and I never come close to running out of memory with 32GB.

DDR4 is coming down in price, but it's still close to $300 for 32GB, and that is a heavy price to pay when your issue can be solved by optimizing a few settings.
