best budget surround sound System?

Olli_

Hi.

I am currently looking to purchase a new sound system for watching films and games on the tv. I have a budget od around £250. I would prefer it to be wireless if possible.  I dont really know alot when it comes to this stuff. I have a sound bar that i use at the moment but i have moved a my stuff into a bigger room so would like to fill the room more with the sound. And i was going to use it for my pc now instead. Any options or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm a big enthusiast of properly-done audio for movies, but to be totally honest most people are pretty happy with a good sound bar + smallish subwoofer. Having never owned one I can't recommend any specifically but I'm sure you can google "best sound bars" or similar to find pricing in your country for preferred models.

We're using the Yamaha YAS-207 at our TV.

It sounds absolutely amazing for it's money, has surround (6 Speakers + wireless subwoofer), connects via HDMI ARC, has Bluetooth, can be configured using the app for iOS- and Android-Devices.

It costs 229 pounds at amazon.co.uk. Worth it's money! :)

It has HDMI-in (via ARC on the tv, turns on when the TV turns on), analog in, optical in and even an HDMI-out.

Have a look at logitech z906. just dont use the speaker wire they come with - its not "shielded" and will create a fuzzy noise in the speakers. buy a 100ft amazon basics reel of the stuff. for the reel and z906 it would be about 220 pounds. :)

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)
