RTX 2060 or 2070?

Go to solution Solved by Phentos,

The 1070TI is a 1080 that couldn't quite make it, so some of the CUDA cores and such were disabled, plus it has slower memory.

The RTX 2060 will most likely beat the 1070TI slightly in pretty much every game and beat the 1080 in games that support DLSS and other new features, along with DX12/Vulkan due to much improved performance for the latter in the 2060.

However, for 1440p I certainly recommend stepping up to the 2070 especially if you want to take advantage of ray tracing in games.

So im planning to get a nice new build, since amd flopped on their ces keynote, im going the best price per performance i can get, now im planning to get a 1440p high refresh rate rig, and i dunno if i should go for 2060 or 2070, because in benchmarks theres like a 10 fps difference, but in price it aint so suttle lol. People say the 2060 competes with the 1070 ti, but then they say 2070 competes with 1080, but isnt the 1070 ti an underclocked 1080, and aren't they almost the same?????

lmao ray tracing, ah so what would you compare the 2070 with? a 1080 ti? isnt that compared to a 2080????? So many questions? Also can you oc a 2070 to get to 1080 ti performance? obviously without elite cooling, maybe a 3 fan design on the cheaper gigabyte cards.

2070 is pretty even with the 1080. The 2080 is comparable with the 1080TI. However in games with DLSS enabled, which 10-series cards cannot utilize, the 2070 will probably pull well ahead of the 1080 and the 2080 would pull ahead of the 1080TI.

You won't be able to OC a 2070 to get 1080TI performance. You can easily beat even an OC'ed 1080 though without much effort.

So? wait a little more and see what amd has with their navi cards or nvidia has to hold with their GTX 11 series cards? Ooooor Bite the bullet right now and enjoy the high refresh rate life? Im quite a patient guy myself so i wont mind waiting to like june, max August or September. Another thing that matters is that im a broke highschooler that finally saved up some money on expensive parts so i wanna buy this and be comfortable for like 5 years minimum until i save up again.

If you want to wait, wait. If you want to buy now, don't wait.

IIRC the so-called "GTX 11" cards are all speculation. If you want to wait for something to come about from that lineup, more power to you. I don't expect anything stronger than a 2060 sans RT/Tensor cores to come out from a "GTX 11" product stack, as it would damage their RTX lineup's sales.

I used to play the "waiting meme" game in the past and I've gotten tired of it. So I buy what I want right away, hence me having a 9700K instead of waiting for Threadripper 3rd gen like I originally planned on doing. I needed a better CPU for Adobe products and the 9700K was what I could afford at the time. I'm not ruling out a TR 3rd gen build later this year, but I needed something now.

Are the prices you quoted at the beginning of your post from local listings and merchants?

You're gonna have to look into local merchants or import from a neighboring country such as Greece or Serbia, as I don't think Macedonia is in the EU yet.

If you import from US-based vendors, you are going to be putting out a boatload of cash for import and duty fees.

As a Greek I can tell you that we don't have any local shops that sell pc components. Instead, we order everything from the internet from sites like ''skroutz''. Skroutz is basically a ''ghost'' site. There is no shop named skroutz. Skroutz instead is a site that helps you find the best prices for the products you are looking for and order them from other shops. So, it would be a good solution if you have a friend living in Greece, who visits your country every now and then. He could order the components and then sent them to you or just bring them to you. I don't know any other way to get those products into your country.

I also want to inform you that Greece has almost the same prices , if not better , as the UK. But nowhere near the prices of the US. Btw I want to buy the same cpu as you, ryzen 5 2600 and this is very cheap here, going for 160 euros.

Hello guys!

About the RTX 2060, with the information at hand, do you think that it's possible to do a OC via softwares like evga precision x1 and get similar performance of a RTX 2070 in 1080p?

I've got none tbh. I don't live there, so idk.

I guess just look at the local vendors and compare prices and deals.

Nah man, thats a bit of a stretch dont you think? It will max help out like 15% And thats blown way out of proportion. At least i think i havent checked benchmarks if it might keep up with the extra 15% of performance.
