I don't mind a bulky system, I'll use it as a desktop replacement in my hostel. Same for battery life, don't need much, and don't needs l Quadro, can use lab workstation for intensive work. And is 1050ti still gonna be good for coming years or should I increase my budget?

I don't know market in ur region... I live in india nd i got my predator helios 300 i5-8300H for about ₹61000 few months back nd according to me its roughly $900 so in your $2400 u will get a badass gaming laptop since as compared usa laptop in india a bit expensive... I would suggest u should check out asus rog series and acer predator helios 300/500 and predator trion series... I think u will get good laptop with atleast 6gb gtx 1060 and i7-8700H/8300H...

Nd get a proper peripheral like a set of mouse nd nice keyboard to keep your laptop safe... This laptop is for ₹1,15,000 so its roughly $1700 and u might get a bit cheaper in ur region.. its ro king i7-8750H,16g ddr4 ram,256gb ssd, 1tb hdd, and 6gb gtx1060 nd 1080p 144hz display which is in ur budget... Nd do check out ausu rog series also....

Budget in INR? If you're buying around June, might want to wait for RTX laptops
