Really depends on what he likes then does it not? Does he like TouchWiz? Does he want the device to last for a few years? Does he record video?

Currently using S6, all phones are new from our Canadian carrier (Fido). He enjoys watching videos and taking pictures, along with the usual stuff like texting and calling.

Then I would say go with the iPhone because of the stereo speakers and better camera.

1. Great phone, same OS, great camera best screen

2. Good phone

3. Also good

4. Great phone, different OS have to set up new accounts. Apple ecosystem.

Is say the s8 as I have experience with it.

Personally I'd avoid an iPhone as it tends to lock you into the ecosystem. They're great phones with some of the best security.

The s8 had a better screen Oled vs Lcd has much more screen space iphone 4.7 inch vs 5.8 inch yet they aren't very different in size.

Camera quality doesn't really matter these days as all the flagship phones have amazing cameras and it's more about software than hardware.

As for 2 and 3 I only know they are decent.
