Looking for a Laptop 2k19

Yggi

Hey guys,

I'm currently looking for a laptop to get work done for University and Gaming.

I'm currently playing things like BO4, that's like the game at upper end of performance games I play. I'd like to play the new The Division as well in the future. So I'm not quite sure if a 1060 would get the job done. In case of BO4 I play for performance, Division should look somewhat good though.

For work it's probably not that difficult I think, writing etc should go easy on an i7.

At the moment I got an Asus in the back of my head:

But I read alot about those TongFang Barebones and I'm quite interested in those, but I don't know who resells them here in Germany - those XMG's are kinda overpriced imo.

I would love to here some feedback from you guys, my budget is somewhere between 1000-1200€ (Germany). If it's below that with the same amount of power even better.

My concerns are about value AND security for the future (3-4 years).

What kind of links or to which products?

The Asus is at 1100€ at the moment, could get it for 1050 though.

Battery life is not so important, would work mostly with AC attached.

Weight I'd say not above 3 kilograms, 2.5 would be amazing.

Thank you :)

weirdly I can't find the Medion Erazer? Only old ones from a couple of years ago?

The One Gaming, Guru, Hellfire and Nexoc come with a Pentium Processor and don't have the option for an i7-8750H and missing the combo SSD+HDD :/

Edit:

I don't know much about the power of the 1060 MaxQ and the i5-8300H, so I'm not quite sure about those two..

It's available on many websites, the cheapest one is in their official website

you can choose i5-8400 or i7-8700, they are desktop chips BTW

1. Don't worry about Max-Q in Dell G5, you can tune it to a full 1060. The cooling can handle it

2. i5-8300H is enough if your main usage is gaming and you don't have other workload that requires more multi core performance. Runs cooler too

I took a look into the benchmarks of MaxQ vs 1060 and the both processors. Can you switch a MaxQ 1060 to a normal 1060 every time or is only possible on a few devices?

What do you think about the Asus I posted earlier? i7-8750H, 1060 6GB, 256gb SSD + 1TB HDD, 8GB Ram option up to 32 gigs. At 1050€.

And what do you think about the upcoming CES? Should I wait, because of new releases etc because I'm concerned about the future security of the system.

My desktop runs atm on an i7-6700 with 16 gigs of RAM, 1070 with an M2 SSD plus SSD and HDD and I'm well up to speed still. Put it together in 2015.

Max-Q is just an underclocked version. If the cooling system is capable of handling the heat, you can OC to a full power card (preferably QC via voltage frequency curve)

Crap model

If you can wait, why not. Nobody will know how will 20 series mobile cards perform so we'll see

Bad cooling, build quality isn't that great, Asus bad QC and aftersales support
