Advice for buying motherboard??

Hello, I have recently started looking into building my first pc. I have some friends who have built their own computer already so theyll be able to help put it together. But i was hoping for some recommendations for a motherboard. I plan on using the computer for gaming, streaming, and editing. Price is not an issue. Thank you for your help and let me know if i left any details out that could help you recommend one

yeah, that really depends on the platform. I'll list some examples of good board on the two most popular platforms rn

z390: auros pro/master/aorus xtreme waterforce (last one if you got money to burn), asrock taichi/taichi ultimate, don't get any asus boards, as they have a effective 4 phase power design against the 12 and 10 phase of gigabyte and asrock

b450/x470: asrock pro4/fatal1ty/taichi/taichi ultimate

msi mortar/bazooka/tomahawk/pro carbon

haven't really heared anything about gigabyte and asus with the amd boards....

general rules:

1) vrm shielding

2) vrm design

3) features

4) ports

5) io

6) rgb all over the place

well, we really need to know the other components are.

you can't put a Intel CPU in a motherboard with an AMD chipset, so on and so forth.

I was told i should start by picking a motherboard/cpu and pick the rest of the parts around that

Is it more for gaming or more for other work?

purely gaming-> Intel

Mixed workload -> amd

once you pick what brand CPU you want to go, then pick one of the aforementioned chipsets and Choose a MoBo that suits your needs. I personally have 2700x with B450 gaming pro carbon.

Nope: 9900K > 2700x for gaming and productivity.

CES 2019 is coming in less than 2 weeks, and AMD will be releasing new Zen 2 CPUs wth up to 16 cores at 4.7GHz for $500. I highly suggest you wait until then to decide what CPU/motherboard to get.

So thats 1 CPU out of many they have. General vibe I have gathered over the last few months is that what I stated above.
