Can't decide on laptop, help

Hi so I've narrowed down my choices of laptop, right now anyway, to a asus gl502v and an acer nitro 5.

The asus gl502v specs are:

I7 6700HQ

Gtx 970m

8gb ddr 4 ram

256gb ssd

1tb hdd

 

And the acer nitro 5 specs are:

I5 8300H

Gtx 1050 4gb

8gb ddr4 ram

1tb hdd

 

I think I'm more persuaded by the gl502v, however it is older and the nitro 5 has a better processor, but from what I've heard the nitro 5 has cooling problems. What do you think? Both the same price, yes used, no nothing else has come up at a similar deal yet. I'd likely upgrade to 16gb of ram at some point aswell

 

I'd use it for gaming but I have a gaming rig aswell that and school work, so would be carrying it around and you can usually find a plug socket although ok battery life would help.

Lcoation? Budget? Preferred max weight in kg/lbs and min battery life in hours?
