Funny how TV's 10 years ago had 240hz refresh rate before 4k came and made all tv's 60hz with motion technology to make it look like 120 … it works,,,  Why that long ago we had 240 and 480hz refresh rates for TV's but PC was 60hz.  Now you have to freakin work your tail off to find a 144hz monitor and when you do the resolution sux balls and is not 4k and its small 27" ………. sighs.  If  TV can be 60 inches with 240hz.  Why can't a monitor be 40" and 240hz 4k ……  The PC monitor industry is moving in slow motion.

Yes your right, When I go to Costco you see all 4k and using a special motion technology like true motion or motion rate ,,,, whatever every company has a name for it.

Because no cable could transfer the data to create a picture

Also, there was high refresh TVs? Since when did they have snything more than 60?

Also first 4K TVs were 30hz since HDMI couldnt transfer more. And 1080p TVs were ususlly 60hz. So idk where the 240hz TVs are comming from

TVs have a much worse delay than monitors - even if it's at a higher framerate. That means they some are unusable for gaming.

People are also willing to spend much more money on TVs than monitors.

HDMI 2.1 is the only port with bandwidth for 4k 240Hz, and it's brand new. Also, if something is titled "rant" I usually get those status update vibes.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

TVs only use motion interpolation up to 120 Hz. The panels do not refresh any faster than that. All higher "refresh rates" on TVs like 240 Hz or 480 Hz are backlight strobing, not panels refreshing at those speeds.

We can in desktop mode when moving the mouse around. Also, wouldn't higher refresh rate always help even if the framerate is unchanged?

One can also choose high fps low detail or low res and then high res, low fps. Some games benefit from the high res, others from high details and also a lot of older games (not that old) will fully take advantage of 4k 144hz.

I'm outraged at this statement.

CPU: Ryzen 5500 GPU: RX 6800 RAM: DDR4 3200MHZ 48GB (2x8+2x16 GB)  MOBO: MSI B450-A PRO Display: 4k120hz with freesync premium.

a 4k 2120hz monitor costs upwards of $1400, if you want to spend that to use on the desktop screen. Go right on ahead. Theres no practical use case for an average user who would be fine with a regular 4k monitor or QHD 144hz monitor (even these are expensive)

which begs the question why would anyone buy a 4k 120 hz monitor to lower the resolution!? its a complete waste of money. and lots of older games don't even support 4k, so thats also a lousy argument.
