Hi all! I am embarking on my first build. While I've done minor repairs here and there, this is my first attempt at the entire PC. I am going to be using this for some gaming and a bit of adventurous overclocking. This is the rig I have in mind:

Corsair Vengeance Series C70 tower

MSI Z87-G45 board

I5-4670k

Asus GeForce GTX760 2GB (I plan to add a second card for sli in next few months. Money just doesn't permit now.)

8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro

Kingston HyperX 120GB ssd

Caviar Black Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive

Asus DVD-rw

Corsair H100i

My question is, will a 650W power supply be enough, for the time being? Any suggestions on preferences?

All advise is appreciated.

Would it not be better to save up a little more and get a GTX 770 instead of SLI 2 GTX 760? as the prices have dropped in the last couple of months.

Wish I had this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Palit-Jetstream-Graphics-Architecture-Surround/dp/B00DB4J7LU, I only have the 2gb version of it and cost more then the 4gb one.

Cry Havoc!

I would recommend one GPU as you have seen Logan and Linus talk about SLI before but if you are going to do it only do 760's in SLI but check with PCPP first to see what the power would be at stock then go from there.

Current System: CPU - I5-6500 | Motherboard - ASRock H170M-ITX/ac | RAM - Mushkin Blackline 16GB DDR4 @ 2400mHz | GPU - EVGA 1060 3GB | Case - Fractal Design Nano S | Storage - 250GB 850 EVO, 3TB Barracuda | PSU - EVGA 450W 80+ Bronze | Display - AOC 22" 1080p IPS | Cooling - Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK | Keyboard - Cooler Master QuickFire Rapid(MX Blues) | Mouse - Logitech G602 | Sound - Schiit Stack | Operating System - Windows 10

The OG System: I3-2370M @ 2.4 GHz, 750GB 5400 RPM HDD, 8GB RAM @1333Mhz, Lenovo Z580 Laptop (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS).

Peripherals: G602, AKG 240, Sennheiser HD 6XX, Audio-Technica 2500, Oneplus 5T, Odroid C2(NAS).

Unless you get noctua fans for the H100i, it will be VERY loud. IF you are wiling to give up some silentness for a little bit more performance, keep the H100i. If you want silent, either get the H100i with Noctua Static Pressure fans, or get the NH-D14 air cooler. THe NH-D14 also comes with a awesome case badge :D

CPU: i7-4770k CPU Cooler: NH-D14 RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8gb GPU: EVGA Superclocked 780 ti MOBO: ASUS Maximus VI Gene PSU: Corsair RM 850 Case: Bitfenix Prodigy M

I plan on replacing the fans at some point. If I had unlimited funds then I would definitely build it the way I want to, from the beginning. As it stands, I have to build it in attainable stages.

"VERY" loud? Not in my experience. All fans Nocuta included, get loud when they run a full speed. H100i stock fans are reasonably quiet at low speeds. It is only when the cpu takes on heavy loads that the fans start to get noisy.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Noctuas get loud at full load, but not like some other fans.

A good 650w would be plenty for a 760 sli.

Getting such an expensive cpu cooler is a waste of money for gaming though.

Where are you shopping/located? Budget?

I'm in Texas, and most of my parts are coming from Newegg. While I deplore Amazon, I've seen a couple of good deals on there as well. Budget-wise, I'm trying not to break a grand. That's not to say that in the end I will not have exceeded that, but to begin with, I don't want to go beyond that.

As for it being a waste, is it not a waste to build a 900hp street engine? I am building this as much out of pleasure as I am out of necessity. They way I see it is, if I'm going to build a computer them it is going to be something I can continue to push beyond its limits. Otherwise, I might as well just settle for some off the shelf pos.

A 650W psu is more than sufficient. Why not amazon?

It's a waste because it sucks up your budget that can be used for something that actually gives you more gaming performance instead of just a cooler that looks good.

I've just had more than one bad experience with Amazon, so I don't use it if I can avoid it.

Amazon links products from other sellers and such. If you bought a product like that and not directly from Amazon, that would probably be the issue. When you're buying computer parts from the right sellers in Amazon, you don't have that issue.
