New build doesn’t work

Sem223

So I built my pc today but it seems to have a problem

When I turn it on, only the RGB glow from the ram seems to glow, nothing else works

I’ve checked all pins, they seem to be good
Psu is connected to everything (I believe)
Nothing is plugged into the wrong thing

Specs:

R7 2700x w/ Wraith Prism
Rtx 2080
16gb DDR4 3200mhz
Corsair ll120’s
Aorus Ultra Gaming X470
500gb ssd
2tb hdd
Fractal Design Meshify C

So basicly only the ram rgb works, no fan or anything either. I don’t have windows yet so haven’t tested after installing.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

So when you turn them power switch on the psu on, the ram lights up?

Did you check that the power button is connected to the motherboard?

Yeah, only the ram lights up

the 24pin is connected to the motherboard if that’s what you mean yes

Could be the power supply.

Does the green black wire trick still work with modem PSU's?
If so, connect the green wire with the adjacent black wire, fan should spin up.

So if you flick the PSU switch your RAM lights up? and when you press the power button, nothing happens? did you double check all the connections for power/reset ?

edit: Just seen your post above, in that case double check the connections. make sure + and - are on the correct pin

I eh, might’ve forgotten the power button. Will test when I’m home to see results.

Usually when this happens to me, I start back at step one.

As painful as it may sound, you could test the hardware piece by piece. Essentially just running the motherboard, ram, and cpu(with the cooler of course).

Getting to the post screen is a simple task you could aim for.

As for the case connectors, check your motherboard manual or an online pdf to make sure they are all seated in the correct spot. They can be confusing.

For simplicity you can just touch the 2 power button pins with a screwdriver or anything metal.

Or if your mobo has a dedicated powerbutton, that would work as well.

But eventually connecting the power button might be a good idea :D

!!, I might have screwed up on the reset sw and power sw, there was no indication of + and - on the cable itself, onlh in the manual so I just went with what I thought was correct.

It doesnt matter which way its around afaik. as long as you got the 2 right pins with the right button it should work.

on my MoBo the + red circle and the one next to it (yellow) is the -

not sure if that’s universal on all MoBo’s but thought I’d share cause it might help :)
