So I saw the "CRAZY Keyboard You WEAR" video and youtube the other day. I've been working on a small project that might just be the solution for this. 

 

So if you want to do typing with say 5-10 keys, chorded keyboards are out of the picture due to the sheer learning curve of it all. 

 

My thought is to meat in the middle and present a headsup display with the symbols. Then the symbols can be put in a clever form. Based on how frequent the symbols are. 

 

Basically I came up with 4 models and made a game very you can type and compare the different variants.

The tree variant above actually would work much better in VR since it could make use of the 3d naturaly and the large screen estate wouldn't really matter as we have a lot more degrees of sight per letter.

A more boring version that works in a linux environment. Transparency and ease of moving the window out of the way is the focus here.

An unreleased level where you try on the Chinese character set. What you see in this video is someone who never wrote a single chinese symbol in his life battling through tao te ching by lao-tze.
