I wouldn't buy either and would instead opt for a 8700k.

8700k only has slight more performance and is $60 to $80 more expensive than the 9600k depending on the country. Here in the United States this is fact.

I agree with another poster on here. 2700x is great value or wait for the 3000 series.

Orignal poster will you be using this pc strictly for gaming? You want 4K or 1080p? What country?

Even if strictly gaming AMD processors lately only have slight less performance than intels cpus for way cheaper.

The 8700k has alot more performance than the 9600k especially if you look at frametimes. I would never buy an i5 9600k.

a 10 to 15 FPS difference isn’t that big of a deal. In fact most games the FPS is even between the two cpus. Just watch the YouTube video. Especially considering the major price difference between the two. The 9600k is better value.

Even look at these user benchmarks: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-8700K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-9600K/3937vs4031

I also did not notice the OG poster said he wanted to stream. In this case the 8700k would be better because it has hyperthreading and the 9600k does not. If we were having a strictly gaming conversation the 9600k would win hands down in terms of performance per cost. Don't get me wrong the poster can stream on a 9600k, but it would be worse than streaming on a 2700x for cheaper.

Also the OG poster should consider the 2700x which is great for multitasking and streaming.
