Running SLI on two different cards

I had a 1070ti and I just got a 2070, my motherboard supports SLI so can I run the cards in SLI or do they have to be the same chipset.

must be in the same processor family for SLI: 1070ti->1070ti  2070->2070

you can technically do this with different sli auto

Must be the same family.

 

On another note. SLI isn't worth it anymore. It causes more issues than it solves. Almost no games support it anymore.
