Upgraded to 9900k. Which 2080TI to get?

xailander

Figured I'd max out my PC with a 9900k and 2080ti and then let the PC be for a few years.

However....

Tons of reviews on newegg are talking about cards dying. Tons of articles about them dying... so I have a question. Which card is best? Are there any that are failing less than others?

What about hybrid cards? Are they less prone to issues due to better cooling?

that was only on the first line. gddr6 overheating or something if I remember correctly. there are many good cards, and for overclocking you're probebly going to be power limited before you hit thermal limits. A hybird card is as likely to fail, if not easier as it has watercooling involved. The strix, xc, aorus, seahawk, ftw, gaming x trio and even the founders edition are good cards to take a look into

Get a card with a large cooler.

I bought the EVGA XC gaming. I went with a 2 slot card because I may SLI in the future.

The XC gaming is too loud overclocked. That is why even EVGA went 3 slot.

They are so close that you will see a very small advantage in the OC ability of the Asus.  However, EVGA has invested a ton of time into iCX and monitoring after issues with the Pascal launch.  I feel that are hyper focused on quality and offer a great standard warranty and an extended one for a total of 5 years.  They also resell very well based on reputation if you don't hold onto them for long.  I've had many cards and the EVGA are the standouts of the bunch.

I've got the Strix on reserve at microcenter, still researching if the crash and burn/death of 2080TIs is still occurring though. I would look into that before picking up a 2080TI card yourself....EVGA were on the dead list too.

Failing cards concerns only the first batch of the produced cards so far. Those which are produced recently should have no problem.
