I am building a new computer and was wondering how many fans can I plug into the motherboard and If i need a fan splitter. I am planning on using six fans (3 intake three exhaust) and I am using a Phanteks P400 TG. 3 Fans on the front for intake, two on the top for exhaust, and one in the rear for exhaust. They are all 120mm fans. Here is the manual for my motherboard, Manual. I was kind of off because there are some weird things like m.2 fan, and others. I am planning on using these fans but I can change. These fans go up to 2000rpm so if i have to use a splitter, will I still have control over the fans? Or will they be running at full blast? My main question is how many fans I can plug into the motherboard to still have full control, and if it is less than 6, how would I control the fans? Thank you in advance!

Each mobo header can supply up to 1A, unless otherwise specified. Fans are 0.225A each, that means you could have 4 fans on single header without issues. Your mobo has 6 fan headers total. So depending on what your CPU cooler is, you need one or more splitters.

To controlling. Asus is generally good at this, so you have per header PWM control. When you use splitter, you control one fan (master) and others connected to same splitter will follow (slave). In practice this means that all fans on splitter should be same model and same placement. So top fans on one header for example.

So can the AIO pump header and m.2 fan header work as regular fan headers like the rest?

Yes.

Yes, they are just labeled to give hints of use cases. As you can see from manual, there's no difference between them.
