Hi guys

I have a build in progress/parts are arriving and some parts yet to be finalized and I thought I'd ask if there'd be anything you might change.

The purpose of this build is for Gaming and Media consumption

Some of these components may seem to be overkill but I want to have this build to last a while and the overkill PSU is so that I can add a custom watercooling system in later when

finance allows

The GPU is going to be changed at a later date, again when finance allows (its from my current build)

For the series of components that I will list, the ones I mark with a * means they are either from my old build or I have already ordered for them

Motherboard

*Maximus VI formula

CPU

4670k

GPU

*sapphire 7870

PSU

*Corsair RM 1000W

Case

*Phanteks Primo

Assortment of Noctua fans in dedication to Linus

Ram

Dominator Platinum (please don't judge I realize how shallow I am already :(    )

Corsair H105

depending if its released soon

Storage

*128gb Sandisk ultra SSD (OS)

*2tb Seagate (mass storage)

As I'm sure your aware by now I'm quite shallow in my choosing but that's that.

Another question is in regarding to my old storage devices, will I have to uninstall the old drivers for my old components E.G Motherboard stuff for when I install the new drivers for the Maximus.

Thanks for keeping with me and I appreciate any help given :)

Why are you buying an RM1000w? Save the money and get better gear, like a decent gpu. Even if you want to custom watercool you don't need that psu

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb

The psu is overkill. A decent 500w would be plenty.

Why watercool?

Guys remember what linus said last week, don't bash him ect. Maybe "they" are planning to purchase some extra 7870's from a friend who knows.....

If I were you do a fresh install because this is your chance (Reformat ect) then you will not have to worry about drivers because it can be a pain some times depending on what you have installed ect. (this is your safest option)

Ah many apologies, I want the power supply head room for not only a water cooling loop but for a sli or cross fire configuration when the time comes, and I wanted to do a water cooling build for several reasons

-to learn

-for cooler operation (when I'll be overclocking)

-for lower noise (as overclocking means higher temps meaning higher fan speeds meaning more noise)

sorry for the confusion.

The psu would be overkill even if you somehow stuffed 4 7870's into the build.

Please read the entire post that I linked. You have yet to tell us where you're shopping/located, your budget, etc.
