ey guys so I've been given an old workstation to mess with, it has dual xeon e5310's, not the most powerful, everything shows up in the bios okay, cpu1 cpu2 4 cores each etc, but once I'm in Windows, it only shows up as 1 core at 1.6ghz, cpuz backs this up

Any ideas, maybe try a different version of Windows? I'm at a loss xD

If you tried a home version of Windows, there's your problem. Home editions can't deal with a dual CPU system. You need a Pro/Business/Enterprise version.

Also, I agree with @manikyath. Nothing you do to this system will make it run Battlefield V or AC Odyssey at nice framerates, if AAA titles are what you're after. It's over 10 years old. You're especially SOL if your board doesn't support the E54xx series of Xeons.

Fortnite and CS GO are okay though.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2900 Model III with similar CPUs, and it games just fine with a proper video card.

Let us know what model system you got, and I can help with CPU upgrades, video card, etc.

Your definition of fine must be different. I had a dual Xeon E5462 system a few years ago with a Radeon HD7950 and GTA V ran like ass, and those were pretty damn fast Xeons for that platform. Tried different GPUs, other operating systems, but the CPUs kept maxing out. Same went for a dual X53xx system. Again, lighter games were fine, but the heavier titles all choked on the CPUs.

I run Doom 2016, and Armoured Warfare at 60FPS with GFX settings either all high or close to it.

Shrug, YMMV depending on game I suppose.
