Can I see that I messed up when I open it?

I will be repasting again, at least to be sure if that's the problem.

Wrong application method (not a big deal TBH), paste dried out due to low mounting pressure

You can do it again. no worries

Hi guys,

I was wondering if these temperatures are normal after cinebench test:

  • 84
  • 68
  • 93
  • 71
  • 86
  • 75

Those are max temperatures recorded per core..

Should I be worried about third one?

Thanks.

Damn, that's a quite big core to core delta, but oh well, that's silicon lottery at it's finest. I don't think it matters much, specially for a low power CPU. Higher temps cause more degradation, but nothing that will affect you, so maybe try putting better thermal paste to help this core, but other than that, there's nothing you can do, and you don't really need to worry.

Thanks for reply..

I repasted both cpu and gpu with noctua nt-h1

Which laptop are you using? How do you apply the thermal paste?

Might be a bad heatsink or bad silicon

Lenovo Y530. Same way as dave2d.

I repasted it even before installing windows, because my model didn't have ssd and I wanted to install one..

Here are some pics I took when I opened it up (and its a brand new laptop)

You should RMA it

Such uneven core temp is abnormal, especially even after repaste

And is it possible somehow that I didn't repaste it well enough?

Can you explain me something about that please? What could go wrong?

Can I see that I messed up when I open it?

I will be repasting again, at least to be sure if that's the problem.

Wrong application method (not a big deal TBH), paste dried out due to low mounting pressure

You can do it again. no worries

Update: It looks like paste spilled out, probably because I applied too much pressure while putting heat sink back on..

This time I just putted heat sink over and tighten the screws.

New max temps after cinebech: (and old temps)

  • 72 (84)
  • 62 (68)
  • 74 (93)
  • 65 (71)
  • 74 (86)
  • 65 (75)

Thanks for your help and time! Really appreciated!

Should I try repasting it again because of this 10 degree difference between one half of the cpu and the other one?

You can try whatever times you want (I also did that) as long as you have enough paste, 12C could be better
