a new rig with used parts

SimpleG

hi everyone, I havent been following the tech world a year or two so I dont know the latest and greatest tech...

so I thought buying used parts. my explanation is that I rarely use my pc, I dont see it worth my money to buy newer parts just to replace them the next week.

my budget would be around 350 euros, I need a MB, GPU, CPU.

That said I have found a used GTX 970 but what MB and cpu I should pair it with?

or do you guys rather have me buy new parts?

Used is fine, provided you can see the parts in action. Virtually everything I've ever built has been from used parts and never had an issue.

Having said that, matching a CPU will depend on what you want to do with your system. If it's rarely used, then practically everything form the past ~3 years will be fine.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

A B85 motherboard with an i7 4790 and 16GB DDR3 would do nicely.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

B85 boards are cheap and plentiful, plus DDR3 is easy to find.

I have found a i5 4960k and I do now have 8gb DDR3. Should find a MB I should be set.

also I found a 980 for 40 euros more than a 970 :D

I have been using a6 6400k for 4 years now, it still runs but is slow. an i5 4960k or an i7 should last the 3 years you said, I dont plan on heavy gaming probably GTA Online mostly

I'm not so fond of a 4690k, quad cores get taken up by so much as watching YouTube while gaming, so if you could get an i7 it would be a little better, especially since if you're on that cheap B85 board I suggested, you can't take advantage of the extra cash you dropped on a K-SKU
