Hey guys, so, I want to build a home server. I intend to use it to host a few things, CI, teamspeak (for friends.. only a few users), (sometimes) a minecraft server for me and a friend or two, etc. Just small stuff mostly. This is my frist go at it: http://pcpartpicker.com/b/KVz I know the cpu and (kind of) ram are overkill, but I like to go overboard with programs I write... :D As far as the HDD goes i might not even buy it.. I have a couple already, so I just clicked some random drive basically.. same for the cooler and case. I basically just clicked the ones that had the highest numbers lol. Now, I want to keep the price around 500 bucks... so.. this is a bit much really. Anyway, let me know what you guys would do. Thanks!

Found and edited another: http://pcpartpicker.com/b/KVA its not AS MUCH (i may increase cpu.. we'll see) but its a lot cheaper and seems like a much better build.. opinions?

Or if i decide to go ham, http://pcpartpicker.com/user/sci4me/saved/3paW

Get a GPU later when you have more money

What does he need a GPU for?

Does anyone even use PCIe SSDs?

He won't need a GPU unless he actually uses that PC to play the games, if he just turns it on and doesn't touch it he won't need it!
