So I bought an Hp prebuilt about 8 months ago, upgraded the power supply and graphics card, down below is my current build, I’m just looking for a recommendation on a new case as well as a new motherboard. Primary use is gaming, looking for either full or mid tower, I don’t care about aesthetics at all. Ideal budget less than $200

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 1700 3 GHz 8-Core Processor

Memory: ADATA - 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400

Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 980 4 GB Video Card

Power Supply: NZXT - HALE82 V2 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Monitor: MSI - Optix AG32CQ 31.5" 2560x1440 144 Hz

Keyboard: Redragon - K552

Mouse: Redragon - Centrophorus M601 Wired Optical Mouse

this is what i'd go with, but you can very easily knock down the mobo to something cheaper.

Air cooler has been fine so far, I haven’t ran into any thermal throttling, but unable to do any overclocking due to the terrible hp motherboard so that might be a future upgrad

Most AMD chips will overclock well, mine did really well. if you don't really need the extra power its not really worth it though, because the increased power draw is pretty inefficient compared to speed gained.

I make intelligent lights do cool things

Looking for something with a little bit of future proofing for the motherboard, or I guess upgrade path would be more correct

Go for the second motherboard then. It's pretty future proof. I bought my motherboard to keep it until at least 2021, as well!
