I hate software issues - so for me I would unplug the mouse, uninstall the Zalman software, reboot (with diff mouse in use), install software then plug in my GM4 - After that Ive run out of ideas personally :/

i got it too work FOR THE LOVE OF GOOOOOOOD

all i had to do is use a computer that had a DVD Drive and copy the entire MINI-CD's files to my USB drive

since my gaming rig doesnt have a dvd drive
"WARNING" dooooo not use the mouse drivers from ZALMAN's website they are junk and do not work with windows 7 (not tested on other operating systems)

use the driver CD that came with your mouse

the zalman website drivers will ask to restart the computer after install = does not work

the zalman CD driver will ask to launch the software after install = work like a charm

FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!

i got this mouse almost a year ago and i have had the issue where the knossos software driver would not detect the mouse preventing me from fine tuning my DPI settings and button layout
i spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to get it too work until i unplugged it and plugged it back in then it work for a year
but because for some reason (i believe my keyboard cord shorted out internally, melted by soldering iron = fixed) caused my usb ports to stop working and power cycle till i did a reboot
sooo thinking it was software issue and an old install of windows 7 (3 years old) i re-installed windows now i am back to where i was when i first got the mouse and cant for the life of me get the software to work with my mouse (hour #6). any solutions would be fan-freakin-tastic

So its plug and play (USB port works, and generic driver is running it) at the moment with no software control the refinement, or is it plugged in and its as if no mouse is hooked up to PC?

Can unplug mouse, uninstall drivers and software.  Install software and plug mouse in, see what happens.  Maybe windows will find a generic driver and it will pair with the software.  My GM1 mouse install a week or so ago was..plug in mouse, download software, instant control.  Just another angle to try to get it to communicate however.

Awesome and informative!  My gaming rig doesn't have a ODD either and when I opened the mouse and saw the disc I was like...................................................  Lucky for me my GM1 software worked on the download but I would have had to install an ODD for just that lol.

Glad to hear its working!!!

Thank you, man! You are a life saving hero! I love my ZM-GM4, I had it for years and it's still working great. Had to reinstall os and couldn't find it's software anywhere anymore. Probably lost the cd too because I turned my house upside down looking for it.
