Looking for a good modern laptop! :D

I have been searching around for a good gaming laptop but nothing perfectly fits the bill :/ My top price cap is ~$2700

What I am looking for:

120/144hz G-sync (prefer ips) (prefer 1440p)

1070 or 1080

16gb of ram

At least a 4-core 8 thread cpu (i7 from 6000 series or higher)

17 inch screen

Somewhat good looking design

The closest for the price that I am looking at is the Alienware 17 R5 with the full 1080 and g sync 1440p display. The only issue I have with that laptop is the TN panel... TN panels are just a little rough in the color department..

Just wondering if anyone has something better in mind :D

I have seen some pretty good laptops with the 144hz 1080p gsync IPS displays with the 1070s; just wondering how anyone feels about those. 1440p is my preferred sweet spot, but I also know at 17 inches it's probably hard to tell a difference.

Thanks in advance! :D

I live in California, if that's what you meant by location ? I don't care about weight or battery life, I rarely use my laptop with out the charger.

MSI GT75 (1070/1080) - high refresh rate TN

Asus G703GS

Clevo P750/P715/P775TM from HIDevolution, ObsidianPC or any other resellers that offer delided CPU

Acer Predator Helios 500

MSI GT63 (1080 not recommended)

HP Omen 17t

AW15, AW17 (optional 1080) - high refresh rate TN

Asus Zephyrus M GM501GS (thin)

There are good TN panels out there so don't worry, however QHD 120Hz TN is kindaOKish - mainly low contrast, OKish colour accuracy (not coverage)

Thanks for the list :D I might go with the Asus Zephyrus M GM501GS; the 1070 one. It's just a 1080p panel so a 1070 is more than capable + cheaper + less heat

less heat

1070 generates more heat

GM501 is one of the thin gaming laptops with better cooling solution (will still throttle in heavy load), only issues are bad battery life (even with Optimus switch), bad stock 'chewing gum' paste and thermal paste on VRMs instead of thermal pads
