AMD DGPU BAD?

Go to solution Solved by DJ46,

AMD drivers being glitchy is a popular fanboy argument.

I've had a GTX560 that wouldn't run over 405MHz (i.e. less than half its actual core clock) without a specific software utility forcing it to do so. There's been nVidia drivers that killed GPUs. Noone's drivers are perfect.

AMD GPUs seem to have worse optimisation for VR, but it's not that noticable and my RX480 runs my Vive just fine.

Indie titles also run a little worse on AMD GPUs from my experience.

The main advantage of AMD GPUs IMO is Freesync and raw power. Older GPUs often end up with better performance in the same games than they had at launch (you can see this in tests comparing the HD7970 and GTX680 after a few years). They are slower at releasing drivers but at least they get to it.

And Freesync is just awesome. Especially the fact that you can get a monitor with it for as little as $100, rather than $400 for a G-sync model.

Almost anyone I've asked has complained about AMD, the all say it's full of bugs glitches crashes etc and that it makes games almost unplayable and that almost every game suffers from bugs and glitches and crashes. Is that true? I've seen people saying the same on some web fourms.

My expected build: r5 2600 + rx590

AMD Has come a long way, nowadays it's pretty solid for gaming.

You might still find issues on content creation software though, mainly Adobe suite and some other specifics like Paint Tool Sal that simply works better, stability and performance wise, on Intel.

Certain hardware acceleration tools like RedShift rendering simply does not work on AMD GPUs and you are forced to go nVidia.

Gaming? A few cases like PUBG and what not still struggles with AMD also, but these cases in gaming are much less frequent than they were in the past.

Yeah, because they forgot when that happened on "the other side", as its always the case.

You only remember what you want to remember and not thebad stuff...

So its not really true these days.

If something crashes, sometimes the Developer have messed up.

One of those bad graphics system developers are the guys from CEMU, who blame everything on AMD...
