I'm ordering a mini itx case (InWin A1) and I've been trying to look at build guides but there is none, i'm wondering if I need to apply any standoffs to the case before I can put my motherboard on to it.

when it arives they are either going to already be there installed or they will come with the case for you to screw them in. a quick look at the motherboard area of your new case when you get it should tell you which one it is.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

From quick google-ing it look like they are pre-installed, but you will see when it arrives. If they are not installed, they will be included, so don't worry about it.

Since this will be my first build i'm not quite familiar with standoffs, how many standoffs should I see in the case?

You only use standoffs that line up with mounting holes in the motherboard.  If there's a screw hole with no stand off, add a stand off.  If it looks like a stand off will touch the bottom of the motherboard, remove the stand off.

Stand-offs don't come with motherboards -- they come with the case.

Motherboard stand-offs looks like this...usually in brass color or black.

Image result for motherboard standoffs

The screws in that bag are for installing M.2 SSD onto the motherboard.

As outlined in Chapter 2, page 2-12 in your motherboard manual -- installing an M.2 SSD onto the back side of the motherboard.
