WIndows !0 update tanked my machine

I currently have an Alienware r5 17.  with an i7-6750k, 32 GB ram,  an a samsung 950 pro Nvme. i did the windows update and all i get when i boot into windows is the standard windows desktop but i dont think it has any drivers! its just a black screen with the tool bar on the bottom. i know i could get a recovery drive but have you guys seen this issue before. like nothing works, plus it takes like 10 minutes to boot.
