Will this system work fine for gaming 1440p 165hz g-sync monitor (preditor monitor)?

Case: Corsair crystal series 570x - Comes with 3 fans, i will buy three more. Intak in the front - 3 fans, two fans withdrawal top (upgrade in cooler will come in here, just changing stock fans to 140mm) and one withdrawal on the back. also 140mm.
It will then be 3x120mm in front for intake, 1 140mm in the back, and 2 140mm on the top.
Motherboard: Asus Rog Strix Z390-F Gaming
CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K
CPU-Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H60 CPU-Cooler (i will upgrade later but idk to what - i am thinking of 240mm rad on top of case with the 2 140mm fans)
RAM: HyperX Fury DDR4 2666MHz 16gb 2x8
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 SC Gaming ACX 3.0
My questions are:
1) How should I setup the fans? (3x 140mm, 3x 120mm)
2) Will this build be stable?
3) I am saving for a new 27¨ 1440p 165hz monitor with g-sync. Is it worth getting? Right now i use BenQ XL2411.
4) Will I be able to do 4.7GHz on the overclocking part of CPU?
5) What CPU Cooler is recommended for a "amateur" overclocker?

  1. If you have the option for 140mm go with 140mm. You can run them at slower speeds and get the same air flow which will be quieter.
  2. Maybe, I doubt the h60 will be suitable for the i9 9900k. My 8700k will hit 70-80 on the h150i. You should probably go with a 240 or 280mm radiator from the start.
  3. 1440 is really cool, and the gysny prevents tearing and stuttering from vsync. If tearing bugs you then I think it is worth it. However, tearing is not noticeable (in my opinion) over 80ish fps.
  4. You will probably be thermally limited on the h60.
  5. I would go with 240 or 280 AIO or a decent air cooler.

If you have your heart set on the 9900k go for it, however I don't believe the gaming improvement is that much better than the 8700k. You could throw the extra 200$ towards better cooling. Also you could rearrange your budget a bit and get a RTX 2080. If you want a part list give me your budget and i can give you some recommendations.

2) Yes but a 9900k isn't a great choice economically, I'd rather save a bunch and get the 8700k for the drop in like 5-10fps

3) With a 1080, kind of. I'd definitely look into at least a 2080 for a better experience with that display.

4) Yes, but not with the H60.

5) I'd get a high end air cooler like the Dark rock pro 4 or D15

1) Id go with the 140's

2) yes (with a better cooler, see below) id also choose the 8700k instead

3) yes

4) yes but with at least a 240 AIO or high end air cooler

5) Ive had good luck with the NZXT Kraken x62, Dark rock Pro 4 as mentioned above is great

You don't really need all the extra fans. Much better to put the money for those into getting a good cpu cooler that can better cope with the heat output of the cpu. If you get something like an H100i Pro, H115i Pro, or H150i Pro you are adding 2-3 fans to the three stock. This is more than sufficient to establish good airflow through the case.

Presuming the budget allows, I would put a H115i Pro or H150i Pro as intake on the front of the case and move the stock fans.

You might consider the i7-9700K. In terms of gaming it performs at least as well as the i9-9900K.

Unless the memory kit is CL14, I would suggest a better performing memory. Perhaps DDR4-3000 CL15 or DDR4-3200 CL16.

What psu is planned?

Thanks for all the answers everyone!

I am thinking of 850w gold corsair PSU

And for those who recommended a cheaper CPU, I actually got a really cheap i9-9900k off of black friday for the same price as regular i7-8700k (10$ more but still..)

I also is thinking about changing memory, but for now my main purpose is a good airflow/cooling desktop setup.

As for the memory, which speeds is recommended? or maybe what amount og gigs?

I am also thinking about the supported hights of the cpu-cooler within the case. I am thinking using some kind of watercooler with rad as mentioned. I wanna future-proof myself with this build (except for gpu as of this year). Thanks for all the other cooling suggestions btw!

How do I know if my RAM is CL14?

I am thinking of upgrading it next year as i will get some income by then to finish my build. I am looking for a RTX 2080 Ti from EVGA, i am just waiting for the prices to drop after a new release of GPU's.

Then for now I'd save money so you can afford it sooner and get a 1070 or 1070ti. Just my opinion though.

You definitely won't need an 850w power supply though. Look at the G2 line from EVGA and get whichever's cheapest out of the 550, 650 & 750w units, same with the RMx units from Corsair.

Thanks for you advice. I already got the 1080 from an earlier build (where the other components bottlenecks the 1080.) For the PSU i just wanna futureproof myself for whatever i might change later. Idk how much watts is needed, but I know 850 is enough, even for overclocking both CPU and GPU.

I am looking into the H150i Pro as you mentioned. The budget is something i "spread" throughout next year. I will get that very soon as it is not too expensive. So if i were to go for this one, do I eliminate the need for purchasing stand-alone 3-pack fans because the stock ones are good enough on it from before?

Unless you plan on NVlinking 2080ti's, save some money. 550w is enough, 850w for one card and other standard parts is like buying a mansion for only yourself and a small cat

Thank you for you quick reply. I will most likely only get one GPU for now, or i was actually thinking of adding another gtx 1080 to SLI them. I have heard you can SLI gtx 1080 with GTX 1080 Ti's, is that correct?

No, they're different GPU's. Besides, SLI for the 10xx series is redundant and performs very crappy compared to the 900 series

Okay thanks, i'll stick with the 1080 i've already got for now. But i will get an RTX 2080 Ti when I am upgrading my GPU no doubt. (again futureproof hahah) I don't really see 2 of them being necessary for like GTA 5, ARK, Forza Horizon 4, Project Cars 2, The forest, CS:GO etc

All of which i want to use 144/165Hz 1440p g-sync display. If possible, are there any "best" gaming monitors with these specs within it? I will look through everyone to see what is possible.

The screens i am looking at are Asus Rog Swift PG279Q and Acer Predator XB271HU. I am actually looking at the first one primarily.
