I'm currently in the market for wifi adapters since I'm unable to run an ethernet cord to my computer. I've been browsing on amazon for the past few days and I've found, what looks like to me, as some pretty decent wifi adapters. However, when I check the reviews, many of them say the 5 Ghz doesn't work well on Windows 10 and the adapters stopped working after a few weeks or months of use. I've seen reviews like this on every single wifi adapter that I've come across. Are wifi adapters just unreliant or am I just looking at the crappy ones. If someone could tell me a good reputable company to buy wifi adapters from that would be great. Thank you in advance and have a nice day!

Here are some of the wifi adapters that I've been looking at but am hesitant to buy:

how is electrical network in your house? how far is the router away from your PC?

you could get away with using a Powerline adapter instead of Wifi

saldy, like wifi, it can very much be a hit or miss depending on electrical wiring and wiredistance. (i got away with about (roughly) 14m distance in wiring + a floor above.)

I was looking for some advice on wifi adapter cables and came across your question... maybe its too late, but if not, here goes. I have successfully used the Alpha adapters for capturing a 750' signal from my neighbor for 3 years.

If you tie it into the Alpha router, you can make it a wireless signal for many deivices since one wifi adapter works with one device unless signal boosted and distributed by a router. The Alpha prices are execllent.

I find the issue in wifi adapter performance is the quality of the cables and the assembly and fit of the connections... hard to find reliable and sturdy active USB extension cables. If anyone has any advice on a source for reliable well made Active USB 2 cables I would appreciate it.
