macOS wasn't that much better than windows. 

I remember a lot of old users online said back in the day there are some horrendous bugs in macOS/OS X.

but overall I think it is a good system.

 

I remember when lion was out, a lot of old users are fed up. Cos the system becomes more like iOS.

There are a lot of "reaction" videos on youtube. Some of those cracks me up. 

 

I didn't own a mac until 2012 or something.

I think for me the best macOS version I have used was Mavericks. My laptop had a 5400 rpm drives in it. I can FEEL the machine became more responsive after getting mavericks. 

 

The worst update probably was high sierra. Too buggy. Simple as that.

The one with the root password vulnerability, if such thing happened to Linux there were probably people still making jokes on it

I agree. Mavericks was stable enough for professional use, at least for me. I still know music producers stuck on Mountain Lion and unwilling to upgrade further as they're worried about AU/ VST plugin stability. Everything after that felt rushed. Mojave has been good so far. But then the issues faced by people vary with the kind of dedicated use they're into.

OSX El Capitan - they deprecated a lot of APIs and it broke a lot of programs, especially audio applications and audio drivers broke because of API changes. The first El Capitan release was the most bug riddled OS apple ever released. It worked great on newer devices, but devices dating back a couple of years where experiencing random kernel panics and program crashes.

They also implemented SIP, a security measurement that made it almost impossible to edit system files.

i joke about it all the time. It is the best way to mock claims from apple fanboys that mac has tough security.

Sierra was without a doubt the worst version for the average consumers. The start of the transition to Metal away from OpenGL, new file system, broken Bootcamp support, and lots of bugs. 

 

Thanfully Mojave has been Snow Leopard 2.0 imho

I would be curious to see a similar poll but adding pre-OS X version (Mac OS 9.2.2 and below) to the poll. Do you think it would change that much?

Cheetah was horrendous. It was badly optimized and slowed even high end Power Mac's of the time down to a crawl. 

I think if more people had experience with it, there is a good chance its vote would be higher.
