Hi,

My wife has Samsung S4 mini which is showing signs of old age and want to replace it with something of a same size, what I could and should look at??

Android only, Samsung first preference, western world companies second and shaite chinese spyphones are not an option in a million years..

She doesn't need it for anything more than calls and Whatsapp/Viber really..

Thanks

The only phones that size are the Compact series by Sony. The other phones you've been suggested are all significantly larger.

Do yourself a favour, and don't get the E5... Not only a bit older, but also VERY VERY Low spec, even the OS is garbage.

Regular E5 is 5,7" big, so it's a lot bigger than Sony's Compact lineup).

E5 Plus is 6".

E5 Play is 5,3", but it comes with quite low Specs, and a hard toned down Android Go (which is basicly an ultra Lite version of Android to work at very low spec phones).

for absolute basics like phone calls, Whatsapp it's probably okay.

But still: I can NOT tell you, if the Voice quality of this phone is decent, or Crap. There are many entry level phones, that sound like Trash when just calling someone.

I would much rather recommend to get used to a bit larger size.. You WILL get used to it (you won't have a choice anyway... These "small" 4" phones will die, and then you have no choice anyway.

8 Years ago, i had a 3,7" Motorola Milestone. When i bought a Desire HD with 4,3" Screen, it felt HUGE.

Now... i have a 6,41" Oneplus 6t, coming from an 5,5" Galaxy S7 edge. I don't want to go smaller anymore. :P

Still, Pixel 3 (very great phone..) or Xz1/2 compact do feel very compact.

Sony xperia Xz2 Compact is great, because of it's "wider" 18:9 Screen ratio.

A bit smaller, and still decent: Xz1 Compact, is also a tad smaller - in fact the smallest Android phone i could recommend, because it comes with a fairly modern Snapdragon 835, which is the Flaggship from 2017. Price droped quite a bit, so it's great value.

Hi all,

Thanks for great support, did search and comparision using GSMARENA's tool and after serious headaches because of 'this one has this and that one doesn't have that' decided, that it's time my wife gets modern phone because I know better :)

XZ2 is great, bit too pricey for her usage pattern thou.

XZ1 - was really interesting option, couldn't get new one in time.

Pixel3 - too pricey.

So i bought her Galaxy A6 - doesn't have AC Wifi band and Galileo GPS, screen is also not best resolution, but it's there in terms of value for money.

Regards
