Sometimes it will work to simply re-enter the code sometimes it won't. I have had it work fine for me about 2 times in a row but I know others who have been less lucky.

So I am currently gathering the parts for my new PC. None of the old parts will be used.

But I don't want to re-buy windows again. Can I use my old activated Version of Windows on the new PC after a fresh installation?

Thanks for your help

You can still link OEM to MS account. Which will make it transferable with that account.

Link the Windows activation key to a Microsoft account, so you can reuse the key for a new PC.
